I'm on the edge of glory.....and I'm hangin' on this moment with you...

Wow!  Currently I am sitting at 269 downloads.   I am so excited that my book is out for the world.  Monday has been good to us so far!  The book will be FREE, (insert woo-hoo loudly) until tomorrow morning.

We survived a day trip to STL for Kyles Barnes appointment.  There was a lot of information to take in.  There was talk about a possible ADHD diagnosis, we discussed Tourette's, and a seizure disorder called ESES.  We are taking him off of the Kepra due to an increased irritibility and awful mood swings.  I will make an appointment with our ped this week, and follow up with our doctor at the Childrens Hospital in 3 weeks to see how he is reacting to no medicine, and to discuss a sleep EEG and possible 2 day hospital stay.  This is a lot to comprehend.  We are still processing and I still feel like we are at a brick wall.  I am just praying for answers soon.

I expect my paperback proof to arrive via snail mail tomorrow, I cannot wait to hold my book in my hands.  It does have a different cover than the Kindle version, so I am anxious to see how that goes over with my fan base.  I will post that link as soon as I hit "Approve" on the publishers site.

We found an incredible little swimming hole this week, it is a great place to take the kids.  So far we've spent 2 days there and the little ones love it!  I have some cute pictures of the kids and Jeff catching crawdads, Kyle got pinched, and well....let's just say I'm pretty sure he's done with that.

Good night to all!

Finding Stones Purchase Link

June 22, 2012

Almost there...

You should be able to download the Kindle version in just a few short hours.  I will post the link here when I get it.  In the meantime, hit me up over at Goodreads.  Here is my link.

I just finished proofing the digital copy online for the paperback, now I just have to bite my fingers waiting on the hard copy to be shipped.  Can I tell you how exciting this is!

Be back in a bit....you will have something really awesome to read this weekend.  xoxo

The time is near....

This is it!  It's the countdown until we launch.  I am so nervous and excited all at once.  I feel like I am taking my destiny in to my own hands instead of waiting on someone else to tell me I am good enough.

Thought I'd share some of my authors pictures that this beautiful girl took for me.   It's not everyday you get to spend with someone who is so professional and kind at the same time.

Thank you for all of your support, and get ready, our turn in this fast moving roller coasters line is almost here....

And here it is!  Our official "Finding Stones" cover.  I am in love.  Simple and elegant.

June 18, 2012

Well, well, well....

So, apparently, when you have children that do not belong to you over an entire weekend...you get NOTHING done.  Ha!

Luke had friends over, Saturday, I had a dear friend over before she heads out to Vegas town, and it was a busy weekend.  Jeff was gone all weekend, working his ass off.

And can I tell you how hot it is?  Already.  *sighs*  I bet it isn't like this in my beloved PacNW.  I was so looking forward to a storm or two, but we got nuthin'.

I spent a better part of the weekend, networking and trying to connect with those who might be interested in my release.  Mainly the young adult paranormal genre, and some very cool site for New Mexico.  Such as Silver City, New Mexico Facebook, and another really great fan page Paranormal Book Club.  I also had the awesome privilege of talking with Solitaire Park and Amy Armbruster.  Both of these incredible authors were very sweet to me and encouraging.

Now for the good stuff, got a few more "you suck" letters.  I won't share them, they are so similar to the prior ones I posted, don't want to bore you to death.  BUT....A very awesome, and amazing friend just got word he is going to be published, I am so happy for him, and so excited to see one of my prayers get answered.  You can read about him on his blog, and he is awesome!

I also received 2 samples of the cover art, eventually choosing the second.  However, the amazing artist behind them has a couple more up his sleeve so I am waiting on those to make a final decision.  But can I just tell you how beautiful they are.  I am so excited to share them with you.

It's going to be a busy week, and leading up to Friday, when we launch...well, I am just not sure how much time I will have.  I will be back with a cover update, thanks for playing and have a great night!

Finally had some sleep....

I don't know what my problem is lately, but sleep has not been my friend.  Throw in the spiders, and it's not a great combination.  Topping that recipe off with the time suck Pinterest, and, well you know the outcome.  At night I probably look like some sort of robber.  Walking through the house with a fly swatter and a flashlight.  Yes, picture that.  My hair on top of my head, disheveled, combing the floors for spiders.  I killed 2 last night.  I know it's an old house, but it is bringing back my fear of those eight-legged freaks.

I spent a majority of last night going back and forth from the family to the computer.  My editor is in South Korea, so the time change kills me.  They are 14 hours ahead of me, so it's either early morning or late night chats.  And let's face it, if you know me, you know I am not an early bird.  I don't care if it caught the worm or not.  I don't eat breakfast, surviving in the am on a cup of coffee with speciality creamer and whip cream.  So, no worms for this bird!

Michelle says that my "you suck" letters are not "you suck" letters at all.  But a very busy agents response, and that they are encouraging.  It seems that the book is drawing them in, they just aren't sure where to send the proposals.  She is too nice to me...wink wink.  Here is the latest I received this morning.  The agent seems very sweet.  So what is it I am lacking with the draw?  I'm just not sure.  The first 3 chapters are well spent introducing the characters, setting up the scenario, and creating the visuals for the "where it takes place".  The book obviously does not catalyst until later, when it gets incredible!  Someone even dies!  *raises eyebrows* Here it is:

Many thanks for your submission – I do appreciate you thinking of me and the Greenhouse.
I’m sorry to say that in this instance I am going to pass on your work. The children’s and YA market are very competitive, as you may well know, and I have to feel a very high degree of confidence in a story to take it on. I just don’t have quite enough conviction that this is one for me at the moment, though please bear in mind that another agent may feel differently – it’s such a subjective business.
I’m also sorry that I can’t offer editorial comment or advice on your story. We receive an overwhelming and ever-growing number of submissions and are narrowly clinging on to giving all even one response.
If you haven’t already done so, please see our website and my blog – links below – which will tell you more about what we seek, our guidelines, and writing craft in general.
Wishing you all the very best and thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to consider your work.

I am not letting them discourage me at all.  And I think I am up to ten, maybe eleven. I stopped counting, because quite frankly, we are on the wave of a huge decision.   We have decided on a release date for ourselves. And are taking this in to our own hands.  I will be announcing the release of the book on Amazon, I have decided that E-books are going to be the future. I am not scared one bit to compete with the other paranormal stories out there.  I am super excited because I feel I can let my fans decide.  And the reviews will be quite helpful.

Please join us this evening, I am going to be announcing the release via our fan page Tiffany Luv Wright, and I am excited to see where this is taking us!  I will be announcing the date at 8 pm central time.

I plan on doing nothing today but writing.  I'd love to have the second book out by the end of the summer.

The "thank you after the you suck" letter.

I had a great idea tonight, because I believe this book is awesome, and so do the few who have read it, and those doing the cover art and editing.  I thought I would come up with something clever for after receiving the "you suck" letter.  I want people to keep up with me.  Why? Because, I do not fail.

Here is what came in tonight, minus the agents name:

"Dear Tiffany:

Thanks for sending along the pages of your manuscript, Finding Stones. Truth be told, though, I'm afraid these pages just didn't draw me in as much as I had hoped. I'm pressed for time these days and, what with my reservations about the project, I suspect I wouldn't be the best fit. Thanks so much for contacting me and for giving me this opportunity. It's much appreciated, and I'm sorry to be passing. I wish you the very best of luck in your search for representation."

This shall be my response from tonight, and so forth:

Thank you for taking the time to read them. You can keep up with me here. I suspect big things are in store! Thank you for your time though, and I too, wish you the best. :)
"Jaxx looked up. Her eyes were swollen with tears. Blood was encrusted all over her face and exposed body. Her hair sitting wild on her shoulders. Even in her mess, she looked like the most beautiful girl he had ever laid eyes on. His heart skipped a beat at her presence, then it sank when she welled up again at the sight of Ariannas lifeless body. She turned to Mau, and they buried their heads on each others shoulders. Huge, silent sobs had taken over the girls. Ariannas mother stepped forward and screamed. She ran to her daughter and forced her body out of Chases arms. Landing in the floor, holding her face in her own hands, and crying out.
Jaxx ran to Chase. Landing in his arms. They both sank in the cavern floor in a heap of sobbing. Chase was speaking softly to Jaxx, moving her hair out of her face to take it in his hands. "She is still with you Jaxx" he said softly.
I know, choking on her words. It was all she could muster up the strength to say. She looked at Chase deeply. At first he couldn’t understand why, and with a silent anguish she pointed to the very back of the cavern where Gretta and what was left of Petra were lying. He felt like vomiting. Arianna was right. There was a reason she could no longer see Gretta. It went deeper than Gretta dying. It was the most unexpected and horrific thing that could have happened. Worse than any of them had predicted or imagined when beginning this trek into the dark, evil mines of New Mexico. "
Favorite Sentence from Book One: "Whatever happens, don't let go of the hand you're holding."

Stay tuned, your favorite programming is going to resume it's schedule....xo

This is great for visualizations.  I love looking at all of the great pins!  Some I am going to upload this evening.

Pin Me! ;)

Can I just say that I really hate spiders.  I spend a better part of my youth being ridiculously afraid of them after turning cartwheels in our yard, and landing on a mamma wolf spider and her hellacious amount of offspring.  It scarred me foreva!  Fast forward to years later, I have been trying to teach myself that superstition wise spiders are more than likely a sign of good luck.  Spiders are Lucky?  Maybe 2 weeks ago I woke up to not one, but 2 creepy crawlies on me.  That is not a fun feeling.  Nor did it feel lucky.  AT.ALL.

Last night, I started fishing around on Pinterest.  (First time user, and it sucked me in 100%) You can find me here at my latest addiction.    Start getting ready to finally go to sleep, and I think to myself..."Self, seeing as how you've been a paranoid spider freak the last 2 weeks, might get a looky at the comforter."  Self obliges, and not only is the biggest, ugliest gosh dang spider crawling on the bed as I move the blanket, but IT'S CRAWLING ON KYLE.   (Yes, the 6 year old still crawls in to bed with us, judge me, I dare you.) I quietly wake Jefe up.  He slowly gets up and smacks it with my flip flop.  And it splatters all over the blanket.

Now those visuals might be enough to give you the creepy crawlies tonight, or at least do a double take of your own bed tonight, however, add to the situation that I think these might be Hobo spiders that rode with us from Washington.  Jefe says I am crazy.  I am not sure, but these bad boys need to find a new home.  Or I will.

Okay, so I didn't get much blogged yesterday, or the day before, we've been pretty busy.  I took a load of stuff to the local auction, I am trying to clean out things I haven't used in the last year.  We spent yesterday running some errands, and a drive through downtown Springfield to scout out photo shoot spots.  An incredible photographer Amber is going to do a shoot for me, for my authors pictures.  They are going to be urban and edgy, and I am stoked to get these done.  A majority will be sent off after the book releases for interview queries.

Also, I thought I would share a couple of my "you suck" letters, just so you all know what they usually say.  And get a good life, whether you love me or hate me, they are still entertaining.

"Dear Author,

I greatly appreciate the opportunity to consider your query - thanks for sending it.

Alas, the query wasn't quite intriguing enough to inspire me to offer representation or further consideration of your project. I have read your query letter myself; I wish I had time enough to respond to everyone personally and with constructive criticism, but it would be overwhelming, hence this form response.

This business is highly subjective; many people whose work I haven't connected with have gone on to critical and commercial success. So, keep trying!

I am grateful that you have afforded me this opportunity to find out about you and your project, and wish you the best of success with your current and future creative work.

All best wishes,"

"Thank you for thinking of me with your query for FINDING STONES. While this sounds like a strong project, I'm afraid it doesn't strike me as a likely fit with me and my particular editorial contacts. I wish you well in finding the right agent for your work."
You would think that they bother me, but, they don't.  They were expected.  I just thought I would share the humiliation that is accompanied when you put yourself out there.  But, you can never let that stop you!  Jack Canfield received 144 rejections before Chicken Soup blah blah....was finally accepted.
Your book has to be marketable, it has to be able to bring in profits with not only book sales, but product sales.  We will get there.  Once this cover art hits, it will be incredible enough to draw in the initial interest, and then the story sucks you in from there.

I am so excited.  I will have some great news to announce in the coming days!  So please stay tuned, and keep on, keepin' on!

The dog is currently obsessed with barking at our new neighbors moving in, and I suppose it is time to feed the small humans.  Until next time....

June 7, 2012

Whew, what a day!

We were busy busy!  I really need to set some time apart for the second book.  I am mid-way through chapter 5, and I have so many ideas for these girls and their adventures.   For some reason though, the 4 kids and little four legged friends do not seem to understand the concept of "mommy is working right now".  They really do expect to be fed 3 times a day, plus snacks.

I received 2 more "you suck" letters today, although one was actually personalized and very nice.  She said I had a strong story, she just wasn't sure she had a publisher in her pocket who would be interested.  I received them both while watching Jack Canfields free "self help for authors" pitch, comically enough.  I will say that I am still not discouraged.  I have this crazy feeling this is going to go viral....

I am super excited to announce the launch of my fan page for Facebook.  The link is Tiffany Luv Wright Fanpage, my goal is to reach 500 likes by this Sunday.  Will you help me by shamefully plugging this link and the other in your status?  **bats eyes**

Jeff is on over-time, so I am thinking I will get some major writing done for book 2 over the weekend, unless the Zombie apocalypse happens, eh...Michelle?

And I heard great news from the cover artist, and cannot wait to see what vision he has brought to life.  I am really weighing out all of my options right now.

While I have gotten a handful of "you sucks" nicely worded, I did speak to an incredible publisher, Peter Paddon, at Pendraig.  He likes the story, but isn't sure he could get it on the shelves until next year.  It is encouraging that he likes the storyline.  I just have this crazy drive inside to get this in to the hands of my readers.  My "editor" who is charging *cough* 3% (insert my snicker here, b/c she is awesome and doing this all the way from South Korea) is working on polishing up the manuscript now.

Just for the sake of saying it, I would LOVE to see this story on film.  *taps fingers on chin*

There isn't any reason other than laziness to not shoot for the moon at this point!

Cheers and good night.

"Cheers" to the "generalized you suck" letters!

Hey, catchy title, right?  Not really.  Probably about as catching as my query letter was to the 4 agencies who sent me a generalized "you suck" letter via email.  It's okay, though, it is all okay.  I've got this.  I revamped my submissions and I'd have to count, but believe I'm close to 65 submits and queries via email.  And I have a few under my sleeve for standard snail mail.  I have just got to get the script printed, and all packaged up ready to go.

You would think I would be disappointed, but I'm not.  I expected it.  And to be honest, hey, at least they read something I sent to them.

It is ridiculously hard for an un-published, un-awarded author to get going.  And I am totally up for the ball game.  I've got nothing but time and patience.

I believe in this book series.  I think it is time for the mainstream to allow a new adventure that doesn't involve being in a love triangle, or a female basing all of her choices on whether or not a boy loves her.  Can't a girl have a supernatural adventure, love who she wants to love, and live her life?

I have faith.  And I know this is going to be an awesome story to tell.

Please continue to visit and share all of my pages and links.  And if you've arrived here via my email attached to my query/submission...stay tuned...you might be regretting sending me that generalized "you suck" letter.

June 3, 2012

So I spent most of the day stressing over my query letter.  Researching, reading, and trying to figure out how to word the letter.  After spending way too much time thinking about it, and what I wanted it to say, I just sat down and typed.
I am proud to say that I sent my email queries out to 35 agents.  Their locations ranging from New York all the way to Los Angeles.
I am so excited about this book.  All I can do now is wait and really think positive that someone is going to ask for the first 3 chapters.  I have sent the full manuscript to Pendraig Publishing.  The longest I will wait is about 6 weeks for an "you suck" email, if that comes at all, or the coveted "we'd like to see more" email.
I would LOVE to hit 50 queries by the end of this week.  As well as accomplish chapters 5-7 on Book Two.  Our friend who is working on the cover art needs another week to really put our vision on paper, and I am over the moon to see what he comes up with.  He is so talented and illustration has always fascinated me, so let's hope his visions flow to the paper!
I am still lacking enough backers on the Peerbackers.com website.  Although, there is plenty of time.  The good thing is, even if I don't hit the 4K I would like to get to pay for the cover art to be professionally produced, and the major editing, I can keep whatever is given.
And there are so many other awesome projects on that site, you could spend days reading about other peoples ventures, so there isn't a lack of material.

I'm trying to update the blog and Facebook as much as possible.  This weekend really kicked my ass as far as time goes.  I didn't have much time to sit down with chapter 5 on the second book, but lots of ideas are burning through my mind.  I can see so many different places for these characters to go.  I love that I am so intrigued with them and really excited to see what others think.

Only 2 very coveted friends have copies, they are extremely hard to please readers in this genre, and while you all will have to wait for their reviews, I am so stoked that they love the book!  Michelle, in particular, IM'd me last night requesting that I only send 3 chapters at a time for her to go over, because she was getting so consumed that it was hard to stop and wait for the rest to be wrote.  THAT is an incredible feeling, knowing that someone loves to read your story.  And not because you wrote it, but because they are truly engulfed in what is happening.

Stay tuned, hopefully by the weeks end I will have incredible news to share...Thanks for reading my ramblings,  :)
